Hi, 1) What camera did you sell but later wish you hadn't? None. I've sold a few MXs in my time, but always because I needed the money or no longer needed the camera, so I never regretted it. 2) Did you/do you plan to replace it later because of the regret? I've then bought a few more MXs when I had some money, but not because I regretted selling the others. It was never a mistake to sell them. -- Cheers, Bob

Some times you can go back and some times you can't. I think my Mother won this originally in a raffle and passed it straight onto me. By then I had the MX and preferred using it and I ended up swapping it for some golf equipment. Recently, I decided that a small camera was a great thing for the car or jacket and bought one on impulse on eBay. But I much prefer the MX and 40mm lens. I thought the O. Trip would be brilliant, but for me, it's not. No one is more surprised at this than me! There is a car I sold 15 years ago I deeply regret selling and have tried on 4 occasions to get a similar replacement, without success Malcolm

1) What camera did you sell but later wish you hadn't? My SFXn 2) Did you/do you plan to replace it later because of the regret? No, I've moved on. There was just something about it that was so pleasant to use. It wasn't pretty, and it didn't have many features, but I really enjoyed it.
Re: Fryday Survey
I know what you mean. I've recently picked up a couple from Ebay because they were being sold with lenses I wanted. They are much better built than most later cameras. I particularly like the little details like the lock on the AF switch so that you don't keep knocking it into manual mode, as happens with the Z1-P. No frills, but they do all the basics, and are very sturdy. John On Fri, 23 Apr 2004 12:58:04 -0500, Treena [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: 1) What camera did you sell but later wish you hadn't? 1) What camera did you sell but later wish you hadn't? Canon T90... Yes, the ultimate screw mount camera. A SMC-Takumar with the Canon adapter acts like a Canon lens in that you don't have to take out the adapter from the lens (you do on a Pentax K body unless you modify the mount). T90 has Spot TTl flash metering etc... I also let go an Angenieux 35-70mm f2.3-2.?, a low-flare lens, not far behind SMC zooms. 2) Did you/do you plan to replace it later because of the regret? Maybe. Andre
Re: Fryday Survey
Yes, what is it about the SF1n/SFXn? It seems so clunky and first-generation autofocus, and yet it seems wonderfully capable. The autofocus actually works very well in most situations, and even without the autofocus turned on, it seems like a _really_ capable Super Program + grip/winder, except more ergonomic and more fun to use (plus the built-in flash!) It has exposure lock (though you have to keep the button pressed down) and nice top-of-the-line features like the three-shot self timer. Also, why is it that only the SF1/PZ models allowed auto bracketing up to +/- 4 stops? The later cameras only do 1 or 2 stops (sometimes only +/- 2 stops in exposure compensation, too). Oh, and you can get the AA battery grip for the SF1/SF1n, which is not an option with the PZ series. And is it my imagination, or is manual focusing with the SFXn viewfinder/screen actually more pleasant than with the PZ-1/PZ-1p or ZX/MZ models? Is this because the eyepiece is actually made of SMC glass and not plastic? I can't believe the PZ-1p screen is less pleasureable to focus on, but this seems so (standard screens that came with the cameras, in both cases). I suppose this means I regret selling my SFX, though I have recently picked up an SF1n. I also sold a beautiful ME Super SE, though I really never used it as much as I would have liked. RE: Fryday Survey
I once sold a black spotmatic II that was in like new condion except it had the dreaded sticky meter switch syndrome which I didnt know at the time could be fixed with a simple CLA. I thought something was broken. Only got about $75 for it. Other than that, I have been very happy with my photographic eqiupment trading in terms of selling. But this brings up the converse, WHAT PHOTO EQUIPMENT DO YOU REGRET NOT BUYING? The one that sticks out in my mind is I was offered a Fujinon 85mm F4 soft focus lens in M42 for $80 mint and at the time I was strictly a Pentax man so I hesitated. I came to my senses the next day and went back/tried to buy it but it was gone. I cant seem to forget about that blunder Not that I would ever use them, I once had the opportunity to buy an entire box full of koni-omega film backs for $10 at a flea market. There must have been 30 of them. But I never heard of that camera and passed, I later found out they were worth way more than that, but that would have only been a money deal, not a collectable deal like the fujinon was. Still dont have a soft focus M42 lens and that was like 15 years ago. JCO J.C. Just remembered, I sold a bunch of 50mm 1.4 and 35mm f2 super takumars and SMC Takumars cheap because they were yellowed. I now know how to fix that problem. what really hurts is a few of the SMCT 50mm 1.4 were the early models that I cherish in STONE MINT LIKE NEW cosmetic condition. Damn I wish I had those back. They were really nice but yellow lenses JCO J.C. O'Connell mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] http://jcoconnell.com

Regret is a pretty strong word ... however, I do sometimes think about a few cameras I let get away: A mint Rolleiflex F TLR with 2.8 Planer assorted accessories; A black Leica Wetzlar M6 in mint condition; A black Canon QL17, A Shintaro painted Leica M3 ... but overall, not that much. I've been very fortunate in having most everything that I wanted. shel J. C. O'Connell wrote: converse, WHAT PHOTO EQUIPMENT DO YOU REGRET NOT BUYING?
Re: Fryday Survey
Cameras I have owned, but which I no longer posess: o Brownie 127 Damaged, and thrown away (no longer light-tight) o Hanimex 35mm ? Given away, I believe ? o half-frame (Olympus?)I've no idea. Lost, I guess. o Spotmatic II Given away (still in use, though) o ME Given away o ME Super Lost/stolen o Agfa digital (640x480) Stopped working - junked. So that's seven I no longer have. My current collection of K-mount bodies is 2 MXs, Super Program, SF-1, PZ-1p, MZ-S, and the *ist-D. That's another seven. I've never actually used the SF-1 (it was a gift from a neighbour when he switched to a Nikon digital point-and-shoot), and I doubt if I'll ever use the Super Program again. But I expect I'll continue to use an MX occasionally - I've owned one on them for almost 28 years. I'll keep the others (PZ-1p MZ-S) for the occasional roll of film, and as backups at least until I get a second digital body. I doubt if I'll sell them, even then - they won't be worth all that much. I've also got a half-plate stereo camera which I keep saying I'm going to get refurbished one of these days. I've been saying that for over thirty years Believe it or not, I've not sold a camera. Really. Never. I've had some stolen, but never actually sold one. So this survey really doesn't apply to me. 1) What camera did you sell but later wish you hadn't? Only one, and for a reason I haven't seen anyone else use yet. I wished I hadn't sold my KX (which I didn't like) because just a few months later my Dad bought himself a K1000 from a camera store. I think the KX would've suited him better, so I wish I'd had it available to sell to him. ERN
