But with the cost of Frontier in the hundred thousands E (or $), I
don't think they would want to do this :)

Actually, the Noritsu digilab has hardwired JPG compression into the
scanning step, to save time (and get more crappy pictures) !!!

I'm a Frontier fan too, after getting some amazing results from stuff I shot in 
London and Paris earlier this year, developed in London.
And the provision of an index print makes my filing much more consistent and 
timely!
