So it looks like in most case Portra wins, It would have been my choice also. I
shot a lot of it on my last world trip, it seemed to be the most widely
available pro-film.

Usually Kodak Gold 200. If I'm planning anything special for the family
pictures, I will shoot Portra 160NC.

What's your favourite "pics of the family in P&S mode with flash" film?

Hi Rob,

Usually I shot in situations like that using either the Supra
400/800 (according to the available light) or the Portra
160/400.
I prefer the Portras when I plan to do enlargements of 20x30cm
and over. My father shots with the Supra 800 almost all the time
and is happy with the results, even with enlargements of
30x40cm. He uses slow zoom lenses, though.

Ciao,

Gianfranco

Some others have commented on also getting good results with the AF280T
...I too have used that but you must see the difference with the AF360
to truly appreciate how well the matrix metering with the pre-flash
work. As Bill mentioned, it does a great job of intergrating flash and
ambient light and and even though I have been using TTL flash for a long
time, (LX and SuperProgram) I have never had such good results previously.

Cheers, Mike.

The AF500FTZ gives me those results on my PZ-1p. Makes shooting family get
togethers a breeze.

At a New Year's eve get together I mounted the AF360 on the MZ-S and used
the system as a glorified P&S. The results were astounding. ALL of the
exposures were dead on, there was not a trace of redeye. As a matter of
fact, it was difficult to tell that flash was even used on the majority of
the shots.

I had similar success with my MZ-S and AF-280T flash at my family's
Christmas gathering. I did a lot of bounce flash off of the ceiling and the
results were terrific! An off-camera mount and contrast control would
probably yield even better results

Happy New Year, everyone!
