Based on the early feature descriptions, it seemed that you only needed to specify the film roll number, and the camera would then do the rest by advancing the film to the first unexposed frame. This seemed a logical possibility given all of the exposure info that the camera stores in memory for data imprinting Not as nifty as I had imagined, but still it's so much nicer than having to fire the shutter (with the lens covered etc.) so many times to get to unexposed film. -joe - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List. If you advance the frame counter while the camera back is open (using the control dial while pushing a button) then the camera will automatically advance the film to the selected frame once the back is closed. -- John Francis(650) 429-4427 MyWay.com 444 Castro St. Suite 101,Mt. RE: MZ-S midroll rewind
Joe, There is a Pentax Function [F12] to set the rewind operation. You set this to a 3 and this enables the Mid Roll Counter/Change (?) (MRC). What you do is note the exposure count on the LCD. I used a Sharpie to write a 32 on my roll when the counter said 31. The manual says to add one or two to be safe. You then rewind the film by pressing in on the rewind button below the door latch. When you go to reload this particular roll, before you close the back (easier if you do it before you put the film in) you press the green exposure button and turn the select dial to the desired number. Then when you close the door the camera will advance the film until the desired number is displayed in the LCD. This way you can do numerous rolls if you so desire. I will be getting back my roll of slides today that contains a mid roll change. I will let you know how it did. As a side note. Before the first exposure of each role - if data imprinting is enabled - it will put the roll number and ISO of the film between the sprocket holes. My particular first roll said roll number 003 :-0 César Matamoros II Panama City, Florida > -Original Message- > From: Joe Urmos [SMTP:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] > Sent: Tuesday, June 19, 2001 12:45 PM > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: MZ-S midroll rewind > > > Now that some lucky people on the list have the MZ-S in hand ... > > How does the film roll numbering system and midroll rewind work? > > I recall there was some debate in the past as to how these features > worked.
