Works fine for me until I try shooting in portrait orientation. In that case I
usually turn my cap around backwards. If I had a grip with the extra shutter
release then I'd probably be OK that way too.

Pointing a cap to one side is quite stylish at the moment... (not in my
opinion, but I've never been stylish).

I agree.

IQ Reduction Mode is required for caps when used in conjunction with an SLR.

Unless you're using LiveView, but then maybe you're already operating in low-IQ
mode then!

All in good fun...

I have several floppy brim boonie hats (similar to these) that I wear
when I need a hat to shade my eyes:

http://www.amazon.com/MILTARY-MILITARY-KHAKI-BOONIE-SMALL/dp/B005T270X4

The brim pushes up out of the way when I bring the camera viewfinder to
my eye, but they otherwise are quite effective shading my eyes from
harsh sunlight.

I had to turn my hardhat backwards, as that hard bill kept hitting the camera.

Silly...!! You put the hat on facing the usual way, then turn it to
engage the latches so it doesn't blow off. Some lock at a quarter turn,
some at a half turn.

I thought everybody knew that... ; )

That's why I bought a Leica! It would have been cheaper to buy a fez.

In fact, I do swivel my cap from time to time, but always furtively and for
as short a time as I can.
