I don't know what the scrapes are from but I would guess you're right. With some of the air they catch they must bounce off the pedals with some regularity. The next thing to hit would be the shins... Saw surprisingly few spills considering the complex tricks they were performing. Thanks for the comment and thanks to all who looked and commented.
