Perhaps even worse, when I was growing up, exactly a block away (same relative
position on a parallel street) lived another family, same surname, with a
spelling variation (theirs being a more common spelling than ours).  They had a
boy, a year younger than I,  with the same first name.  The mother at their house
was Alice, which is my sisters name.  Do you see any possibilities for confusion?

 Back when I had "railroad tracks" in my mouth, I had a namesake (sort-of, he 
had a different middle name) who went to the same orthodontist.  They kept 
mixing up our records!

 I never did meet the guy...
