Back when I was a young man, I imagined that I could be a good golfer,
if I worked on it.

Problem is, I couldn't manage to get out on the course much more than
once a month, which in Canadian climate translates to about 4 or 5
times a year (usually less).

My friends who were golfers got tried to get out 2 or 3 times ~a week~.

I had neither the time nor the money for that.

I had to decide if I wanted to play or not, and then on the day
referred to in an earlier post, I had my epiphany.

The last time I played golf was some 15 or 16 years ago. It was a
little 9 hole course, and by the third hole I had lost a couple of
balls, hooked, sliced or otherwise shanked pretty much every shot and
was (as we say in hockey-crazed Canada) "stickhandling up the
fairway."

The other three in our foursome were quite good golfers, so in
addition to my personal frustration, I felt bad because I was
obviously slowing up their game, even though they were too nice to
comment on it.

So, after 2 and 1/2 holes I pocketed my ball, and went for a nice walk
with my friends. It was glorious.

I haven't golfed since.

Another case of the lost post... I never saw mike's original
one. And he probably
never saw my early reply to Tim explaining "TIGGER"

and yesterday, oddly just after I put the pussyat up for you
guys to see, Earl Woods
passed away. (Tiger's father, for anyone who doesn't know.)

I've never played golf except for mini-golf, but my partner
had played quite a bit and I
got into watching it. I had shot pool for years and since
golf is "cow-pasture pool" -
well, I could get interested. I find it soothing to have a
golf tourney on while doing
chores... The fact that it takes place in beautiful
surroundings helps, too.

I moved the tigger pussy cat pic to photo.net so if you

I've always been impressed by the way I could always hit the long 562 yard
par 5 of my local course in two and then at least three putt.

This is one occasion where the ist D will come in handy from the tee, so I
can at least look at where the ball might be in the rough some moments
later. Will the clubs go back into storage or up on eBay after...
