I would think focus stacking would greatly reduce the necessity of a tilt shift
lens for most photographers.

Sorry - I should have checked current availability before posting the link.
They were asking $528.

I believe that the company making the new K mount tilt/shift lens is
Samyang, and theirs is a tilt/shift not just shift. additionally the Samyang
is 24mm so it's AOV is actually wide angle on APS-C, as opposed to true
normal for the Pentax, which would make it more useful. But really with the
K mount Full Frame just over the horizon, you should really buy both...

I have heard of the k-mount 28mm shift lens; this is the first I have ever
seen for sale. I was sorely tempted for 10-15 minutes and then remembered
that I have enough toys to play with already. But it would still be
interesting to learn how to use such a classic tool.

BTW, I have recently seen new k-mount tilt-shift lenses from another
source, I don’t recall the brand. Higher priced than this used Pentax from
 KEH.

Are you sure?? I was told the shift lens fixed perspective, not focus.

Correct. Focus stacking would reduce the need for the tilt part of
tilt/shift. The old Pentax 28mm shift lens did shift only, no tilt.
