Indeed. One thing that needs to happen before it can go on sale here
is to have a European Trade Number assigned. After that, the official

Yes. Over the week-end, I think. Had my paws on one yesterday, without
camera attached. Impression confirms what Ned Bunnell says about it in

infinity to close focus. Somewhere between 60 and 90 degrees of a

If it's the same as the DA*300/4 it rotates through 360 degrees with detents at
every 90 degrees and the base is removable by the use of a coin leaving behind
a dovetailed rifle scope mount type of affair attached to the rotating ring.

It is very handy to be able to rotate the tripod mount when you
handhold the camera/lens. If not, the tripod mount gets in the way of
a good grip.

Informations given till now by the guy (which as first seems to be a
good source but I suppose that having the lens indeed makes him a good
source...).

* AF speed seems to be pretty nice
* No internal Zoom
* Internal Focus
* Screwdrive compatible !!
* From the pictures posted, seems mighty sharp IMO.

My 70-200 rotates and it also has two tripod mount holes. This helps
when mounting a camera like my D2H or i suppose one with a grip, as
the mount is pretty tight against the tripod this way.

My Sigma 100-500 is a bugger to mount on my old Manfrotto tripod, but
better with the Slik 700 Pro. Smaller head i suppose, like the
operator.:-)

Just a few minutes ago I followed this link to a page that indicated the
thread was only for viewing by logged-in members of PentaxForums. When I
attempted to find the thread through the index I learned that it and all
photographs of and from the lens had been removed at the request of Pentax
USA.

A more cynical person than myself ;-) might see this as the first action in
a campaign of controlled leaks. Look to Ulaan Bator for more news.
