Someone ought to call whoever Canon buy their cheap 28-80 from and let 'em know. :) Seriously, does anyone believe that Canon make their cheapies? -Aaron - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List. Neil (i before e except after the N in Neil...) was in NY recently and will be in Chicago soon, I think. See the website: http://www.neilinnes.org/ All my albums burgled last year (again) so I'm starting the collection once more. Looking for the Alberts/Bonzos/Temperance Seven album. Just to come slightly back to topic, I'm expecting my LX back from servicing in St. Petersburg soon. Interested to see what it's going to feel like, having been serviced for the first time. mike - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List. This sounds like Nikon users saying their 28-80 F4-5.6 is the sharpest cause it's nikon. --- Aaron Reynolds [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Someone ought to call whoever Canon buy their cheap 28-80 from and let 'em know. :) Seriously, does anyone believe that Canon make their cheapies? -Aaron - Get your free @yahoo.ca address at http://mail.yahoo.ca - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List. Nothing scream AMATEUR louder than ads like that. It is also on the outside back cover of Nov. Pop Photography. I would truly be embarrased if I were a Canon shooter. Obviously Pentax isn't the only one who can create sappy ads. Bruce Dayton - Original Message - From: Juan J. Full page ad in Nov. Scientific American: Nothing screams AMATEUR like a third party lens Yeah. Saw it. Just about the most offensive ad I've seen since the famous Nike You don't win the silver you lose the gold ad. Nothing screams TWIT like a person who buys expensive stuff so they can LOOK like a professional. I think Sigma's latest EX series lens offerings are scaring the sh*t out of a lot of camera manufacturers. Canon seems worried, anyway ;) -- Mark Roberts www.robertstech.com - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List. To unsubscribe, go to http://www.pdml.net and follow the directions. Obviously Canon is feeling the pressure from 3rd party lens sales. DG At 10:34 AM 10/23/01 -0700, you wrote: Full page ad in Nov. Funny, all the recent model Canons I've handled have felt flimsy and amateur to me. I like the AE1, but that's about it. Re: Funny OT: Canon ad
But to further reply to your post, I guess that what I was trying to say (in a rather tongue-in-cheek fashion), is why do they have to slight amateurs in their ad? I know we've had a few pro vs. amateurs slugfests here, so I don't want to start one of those again. But some of the most beautiful photographs I've ever seen have been taken by amateurs. And some work by pros (whatever definition you want to use - and once again, I don't want to open that kettle of fish either) that I've seen has been, to say the least, uninspiring. I know the ad was probably intended to be somewhat humourous, but the underlying assumption or inference that using pro equipment makes you a better photographer disturbs and upsets me somewhat. -regards, frank Mark Roberts wrote: Frank Theriault [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: But I AM an amateur...
