Re: Hands-on with 560mm :-)

2013-02-22 Thread Jostein Øksne

Zos,
The shots I made were not well executed enough to base a qualified opinion
on, I'm afraid.
But the first impression was definately positive. It's big, but not terribly
heavy, and handles pretty well for its size, I think. If I didn't have a
long lens, it would be a serious contender. Bloody lot of money, but serious
nonetheless.

On the other hand I don't think I'll trade my Sigma for it now. The half
stop brighter viewfinder counts for something, as does the lower weight and
easier handling.

So now that you have had this lens for a while, how do you think it
compares to the sigma 500? worth the extra money? The sigma looks a
lot smaller, but is also much more optically complex. that pentax lens
looks massive, even collapsed.

Today my pusher got the 560mm in house. Since I had the time, I popped by
for a drool'n'fondle. First impressions are that it's mechanically well
built and quite reasonable to handle considering the focal length. It is
a
lot lighter than the FA*600/4, but a bit heavier than the Sigma 500/4.5.
I

took a picture of the two together with my crappy cellphone, which Stig
Vidar has put online before I even got back to my computer...:-)

The camera pictured is a K-5IIs with a DA*200/2.8, just for reference.

There may be test pictures forthcoming another day.
