Re: K7 movies
Mmm I remember I opened them directly in iMovie. The file format is AVI but the most important thing is the codec, as some others said, Mjpeg. It produces huge files but are very easy to edit on the computer since that codec doesn't require a lot of power to compress/decompress. Edit: I just imported an AVI/Mjpeg file straight from K-7 into iMovie'09: File - Import - Movie - select AVI file. It will convert to MOV/Mjpeg automatically (and reduce resolution if you ask it to do so). You're welcome, Paul. Happy if I can help. I have to say I'm very impressed by the quality of the video. Comparison with my LX3 (720p as well) isn't fair at all. The LX3 compresses data way more (in theory the Codec has not that much influence but bitrate has a lot more). The latest version of IIMovie doesn't recognize the K7 AVi video files. At least not for me:-) Paul On Feb 28, 2010, at 6:27 PM, Brendan MacRae wrote: Paul, You should have iMovie on your iMac. AVI's are Microsoft in origin, but not a problem form QT Pro. iMovie is very limited in scope for such things. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audio_Video_Interleave HTH -- Cheers, Cotty ___/\__ || (O) | People, Places, Pastiche -- http://www.cottysnaps.com _ -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.

Re: K7 movies
check that. you'll need to covert it to .mov first. there are programs to do this. here's one: http://for-mac.mp4kits.com/guides/avi-to-imovie/ -B - Original Message From: Brendan MacRae brendanmacrae1...@yahoo.com To: Pentax-Discuss Mail List pdml@pdml.net Sent: Sun, February 28, 2010 3:47:46 PM Subject: Re: K7 movies - Original Message From: paul stenquist ymailto=mailto:pnstenqu...@comcast.net; href=mailto:pnstenqu...@comcast.net;pnstenqu...@comcast.net To: Pentax-Discuss Mail List href=mailto:pdml@pdml.net;pdml@pdml.net Sent: Sun, February 28, 2010 3:30:51 PM Subject: Re: K7 movies The latest version of IIMovie doesn't recognize the K7 AVi video files. It's 1.1 gigabytes. It may be a bit more than 3 minutes, but not much. HD video is a memory hog.
