It is said that the nature of computations that programs such as LightRoom or Photoshop perform lends itself easily to such an enhancement. As a matter of purely subjective evidence, my brother (IT consultant, etc) indicated to me that I may expect as much as 5-10 *times* faster processing of my images should new LR have CUDA integration. You're SOL on the iBook, LR3 requires an Intel-based Mac. Your PC's graphics card is far too old to support CUDA and the PC itself is probably too old, current system requirements are a P4 and 2GB of RAM running XP SP3 or later. -Adam On Sat, Jun 12, 2010 at 7:36 AM, David J Brooks pentko...@gmail.com wrote: I have a G4 iBook, should i be concerned on LR3 working here. From: Bran Everseeking http://direct.adobe.com/f?xccWPlcEcvnWcJEPHvncqEHTn for those that are interested in playing with it. Well, I thought I might, but it takes me to a page where I have to enter email addresses for three people I want to share the news with. You can't bag it, just generates an error You must enter at least one email address. So I enter one of my own alternate email addresses it says email has been forwarded and nothing else. Open the alternate email account, and there's a message from Bran Everseeking with a link to download the Adobe® Photoshop® Lightroom® 3 beta. Clicking the link brings up a page that says: There was a problem processing that URL.(Message not found). That's all that's on the page. No links. Clicking the download the beta download now links inside the email message brings up the same error page. I finally ended up just Googling Adobe Lightroom 3 beta and following the link to Adobe I found there. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.

Re: Lightroom 3 Hoovers
I'd definitely go to the forum and see if others have reported similar issues. In the course of setting up to test it with the Epson R2400 printer on Snow Leopard yesterday, I connected an 8000 image file repository on an external hard drive and had it import that into its catalog. No problems at all, and it seemed faster than when I did the same thing with LR2.4. Godfrey On Mon, Nov 2, 2009 at 7:48 AM, eactiv...@aol.com wrote: Thanks. I assumed it wasn't suppose to work with the old catalog. But there is certainly something wrong with the way it is creating a new catalog. Although I didn't see the release notes and the information about using copies of files, so maybe they disabled creating a whole new catalog. Re: Lightroom 3 Hoovers
LR3 is intentionally disabled from reading LR2 catalogs ... the release note that came with it says that. This is to prevent people from using the PUBLIC BETA for production work and damaging their files. You are supposed to a) DUPLICATE the ORIGINAL files you are going to TEST it with, and b) create and test with a NEW catalog. http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/lightroom3/releasenotes.pdf This is a test evaluation only release at present. If it is running poorly, go to the adobe forums that were detailed on the page from which you downloaded it and in the release notes do discuss it: http://forums.adobe.com/community/labs/lightroom3/ Public Betas like this are not for everyone. Lots of stuff is far from final and will not work correctly yet. And they're not for production work. I've worked with it only a little bit so far, and thus far it seems to work pretty well on the machine I'm testing it on (MacBook 2Ghz, 2G RAM). On Sun, Nov 1, 2009 at 7:05 PM, eactiv...@aol.com wrote: It won't import a 2.5 catalog, but I presume they know that. So it has to create a catalog from scratch. Twice now it has stopped on me, about 1/8-1/4 in. (Though at least the second try at cataloging did pick up from where it left off.) If it's not stopped, after the initial good start it turns s-l-o-w as molasses. I don't have the patience for it -- because I mean really, really, really slow. Not the fast way 2.5 catalogues. (I am not running anything strange, I am running Windows XP.) I went and looked at the download page and learned nada. So where do I send the bug report? Thanks. Ralf, as much as I understand your problems with k7 wb, I fear you will get same problems with any other brand. In this situation your only viable option is indeed to use your k10d, unfortunately.
