Theyr'e still sitting on heaps of unsaleable K20D and they'll certainly not order any more K-7 only to see them flogged off by places like Alpafoto of Neuwied for 699 in a few weeks. Pentax-Hoya are proactively chasing away their premium dealers. Well, it's their party... Currently, used K-7 go for around 700 euros on ebay.de. That'll come down real fast to 500 once people will have learned about the new prices and the upcoming replacement model. Adam Maas wrote: And Sony's got the opposite problem from Pentax. They have few issues making high-end bodies Agree fully. I used the A850 and the A900 for a while, and they are wonderful in almost all respects. The high-ISO performance is just so-so though, well beyond that of the Canon 5D MkII which I had in use for comparison. On the other hand, the A850/900 are designed and built better than the 5D MkII. At the end, the problem for Sony is not making excellent high-end cameras, it's selling them... but their low-end stuff is absolute garbage at inflated prices. Even their mid-range bodies, which aren't bad, are massively overpriced. Again, I agree. I used the A550 and the image results are excellent, while the build is pure garbage compared to the K-x or K-m. The viewfinder is so tiny and dark that a friend of mine tried to remove the cap from the lens after a first look through the eyepiece indoor. Except there was no cap! I'm not kidding here, it happened and I still laugh at my friend for that.
