I think you can. The cable connections might need a bit of work and you
might have
to write a driver but there should be no impediment beyond that. (Then
again I used to
regularly write hardware drivers).

I don't see the problem with the M42 lenses. Since it's fairly sure the
new DSLR with take K mount, the adaptor should work, and a good lens is
a good lens. Besides, a digi-screwhead is SUCH a Pentax thing . . .

I understand that the most valuable thing that is lost when using
older lenses is the sophisticated metering of newer bodies. But this
is true for K-series and M-series lenses also.

In fact Alek, I was serious. I would like to be able to use older
screw mount lenses on a DSLR!

Andre

But it is important for many of us to use old manual lenses on new
dslr. At least A lenses could be mounted and work like they do on
MZS and PZ1p for instance.
If not I think many people abandom PEntax, since compatibility is
the best feature in Pentax.

And way older Asahi-Kogaku Takumar 50mm 1:3.5? Will it work on the
DLSR with a combination of 2 adapters? I'd like to see the face of a
young Pentax engineer being asked this question... It reminds me.. a
friend of mine was at Future Shop discussing available software to
transfer "long-plays" on CD when the seller wanted to make sure my
friend understood that "it takes a special machine to play those
older records"...

Is it Off Topic or Anachronical Topic?

Cheers,
