One of the reasons I fell in love all over again with the M4-2, which led to my buying the M9, is that I find I get better results, more consistently, with all manual controls on cameras that are designed with manual control as a priority. Using manual controls on cameras primarily designed to be used with automation invariably presents some awkwardness in use, which makes using manual control less effective and obtaining top notch results less consistent. -- Godfrey godfreydigiorgi.posterous.com -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.

Agreed. I like my old cameras because the controls worked so well. The presence of automatic modes makes these controls an afterthought, and this becomes clear when you use the camera. For me the styling is unimportant. Retro that works is controls and ergonomics. Since it's a m43 camera I doubt it will allow the use of legacy lenses better than any other m43 system camera so I'm not particularly excited. I don't own any OM-Zuiko glass anyway, but many were outstanding lenses. I don't think there's any particular propensity for this group of people to enjoy "retro". I dislike "retro", personally. "Retro" implies styling things to make appear a particular way for the sake of selling them on the fantasy of those looks. I dislike things that are false this way. I love cameras that work. Many older cameras are dear to me simply because they work very well. Build me a camera that works well and I'm all for it. Olympus has produced many excellent cameras. I hope this one proves to be an excellent camera too.
