Every time I read the title I think of the Muppet's "Pigs in Space"

That's really very lovely.

Esperance is a very small town & really quite remote.

City boy Dave loved it. Every time I go along on one of these trips it
reinforces my my belief that I need to get out of the city more often.

And as such it's been made my one and only new years resolution.

Nah, it's an observation platform for looking at the town & islands
off the coast.

The beauty of Esperance though is there is so little light pollution
you could almost use it for that. Mind you, drive for an hour or so &
you'd be away from the worst of what light pollution.

I set the camera to ISO 6400 to give as short an exposure time as
possible. I guesstimated the exposure time at 15 seconds for my first
frame & I was bang on (FIG JAM :-).

I also shot some 20-30 min. star trails exposures & for those I
dialled the ISO down to 200.

Not my flash, but a friends LED torch. She was using it to help focus,
I liked the shadows, and quickly took this shot.

Thanks Marnie.

It's an observation platform for viewing the town of Esperance (behind
camera), the harbour (behind & to the left of the camera) & the
islands that make up the archipelago of the Recherche (far side of the
platform)

At night it makes an interesting object to put in front of stars :-)

Great shot, Dave.

So tell me, is that great structure for star gazers? I would love to

Is 16 secs what you calculated would give you minimum streaking, and
you set the ISO to give that to you, or was it automatically set to

And finally, is that your flash off to the left lighting the underside
