I liked this one: http://www.bluemoon.net.nz/photo/printsdb/view.php?p=322&t=1 interesting light & composition IMHO On 3/21/06, David Mann <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > I was uploading another batch of photos and decided on a whim to make > this one (which I uploaded last week) a PAW. > > http://www.bluemoon.net.nz/photo/printsdb/view.php?p=322&t=1 > > This photo seems to be very dependent on the monitor and viewing > conditions. Good eye, great light, good composition & execution. Can you tell I like it? Re: PAW - "Gebbies Pass"
I think that is why I called it a 'pleasant' image rather than 'amazing' - it doesn't bowl you over, but it is nice to look at. You may be right that cropping hurts it, but there is still too much sky. -- Bruce Tuesday, March 21, 2006, 10:17:44 AM, you wrote: TC> My first thoughts were that it might be better cropped more as a panorama. My first thoughts were that it might be better cropped more as a panorama. OTOH, what part would one do away with? If one halved the amount of sky, then the patches of clear blue on the left, that are above (and tend to complement) the brightest spots of sun on the left hillside would be lost. As I scroll/crop, I find the picture is less dynamic with less sky and goes flat without it. Of course it's personal preference. Tom C. RE: PAW - "Gebbies Pass"
I was uploading another batch of photos and decided on a whim to make this one (which I uploaded last week) a PAW. http://www.bluemoon.net.nz/photo/printsdb/view.php?p=322&t=1 This photo seems to be very dependent on the monitor and viewing conditions. The foreground is meant to be reasonably dark. Nice light & composition! Tom C.
Re: PAW - "Gebbies Pass"
A pleasant photo, but certainly suffers from too much sky. The foreground seems as you desired it. -- Bruce Tuesday, March 21, 2006, 2:18:16 AM, you wrote: DM> I was uploading another batch of photos and decided on a whim to make DM> this one (which I uploaded last week) a PAW. RE: PAW - "Gebbies Pass"
Hi David an interesting description and nice photos. I do prefer the harbour photo, It's blue looks more friendly for my mood today :-) And again, size matters here too.. greetings Markus >>-Original Message- >>From: David Mann [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] >>Sent: Tuesday, March 21, 2006 11:18 AM >>To: pentax-discuss@pdml.net >>Subject: PAW - "Gebbies Pass" >> >> >>I was uploading another batch of photos and decided on a whim to make >>this one (which I uploaded last week) a PAW. >> >>http://www.bluemoon.net.nz/photo/printsdb/view.php?p=322&t=1 >> >>This photo seems to be very dependent on the monitor and viewing >>conditions. Re: PAW - "Gebbies Pass"
Beautiful Dave you should get a job with the NZ Tourism Board. Every time I see your pictures it makes me wish I could get the time off work to go there for a holiday.
