Yep, like it better!  I find photographing bark difficult to get just right 
in-camera.  Always seems to need a bit of post-processing.  good eye, jack, on

I just saw the BW version on the PPG.

I like the color version better, but the BW is also excellent, and of

I do like the texture of that.  I remember you said it was quite small which is 
a shame, if it were larger you could put a bit of glass over it and use it as a 
table.

While you were desaturating did you try going all the way to BW?

I did see the first one and agree this is better..
In my mind I'm thinking the real burl might be more reddish brown
jsut because that is a color more appealing to me in burl work though :-)
