The grasses do have sort of a golden hue to the eye at times. It's hard for me to decide. I like both. I tend to like the strict composition of the cropped version, however... not being their myself, I suspect the uncropped version probably more accurately portrays the sweeping vista of the scene. The problem is being comfortable in yourself that you don't consider it necessary. If the case of two scenic images were being judged by me, and all else being equal as is true in this case, I'd have to go with the cropped image as being more attuned to the rules requiring a compositional balance.
