Larry, that's a _great_ idea, and I may very well take you up on that
suggestion. I love doing nods to the greats.

Meanwhile, I dug up this for you. Not actually a selfie, but it's

There's a lot that I like about that photo, although any photo with

Now I want to do a photo of a bunch of naked artists drawing a clothed

There's a lot that I like about that photo, although any photo with
Dorrie naked probably has a lot going in it's favor.

Now I want to do a photo of a bunch of naked artists drawing a clothed

That's actually a really clever idea for a photo. I think you should

Elliott Erwitt did that, but I can't find the picture at the moment. Definitely
worth doing.

Thanks, Larry. That's straight out of camera too, not even cropped, as
you can see an intruding reflector to the right.

I should mention that the artist there is Julie, my neighbor. She's
partly responsible for my present photographic direction/obsession.

We frequently walk our dogs together and chat about life and art. She
attends regular life drawing sessions and her talking about those got
me thinking, why should she be having all the fun?

I picked up a book of O'Keeffe's art from my used book pusher a few

I'd love to shoot with that esthetic. The author (Eldredge) also

crossover influences.

It's a shame email can't be edited. :)

In fact the book author was analyzing O'Keeffe's intimate flower
studies and comparing them to Weston's shells (not Steiglitz!), but I
don't believe there is any other connection. O'Keeffe denied any
intentional erotic aspects and stated that critics were applying their
own preconceptions to her work.

I need to read the text surrounding the images more. :)

That's their job.

Artists aren't always, or indeed ever, the best placed to speak about their
work. And when they do they often lie about it.

Critics are there to point out things about the work that the rest of us,
including the artist, may not see or immediately recognise.

There are some among my very favorites of his.

He gave a quite large signed print of the one if his wife withthe baby and cat to the husband of a
close friend of mine who is a cinamatographer (probably semi retired by now) who worked with him on
a commerical back in the day. When I first went to there house and saw it and did a "oh
wow" my friend Rita said"oh yes, that was someone Carl worked for .." she thought I
was just admiring the photo, which she liked, but she didn't know who he was :-( I think the

occasion was the birth of Carl and Rita's youngest child.

That's their job.

Artists aren't always, or indeed ever, the best placed to speak about their
work. And when they do they often lie about it.

You could say the same about photographers.
