Recently saw a TV moment featuring a person known for his lightening/sever storm photos. When asked if he used film or digital, (his equipment showed an SLR) he explained that he shoots film, because there is a shutter lag with digital which would cause him to miss the lightening bolt. He could have been talking about a camera with an electronic view finder - I've used a Niknon 5700 with EVF, which was very impractrical to use to capture actions images - push the release, count 1, 2 - picture captured. Years ago, when I lived in the mid-west, I tried catching a bolt of lightening on film. No chance! By the time I realized there had been a flash, it was too late. You just have to open the shutter, wait and hope. The darker the scene the better. At least with digital you can delete and try again at no cost except battery drain.
