I think I should very much like a capsule theology of the offshoot of
Christianity that viewed the Holy Spirit as an egret.

I really like that shot.

Interesting.

I would probably have tossed that pic for lack of sharpness in the subject.

The title makes it very powerful, though. I like it.

Thamks Rick. I normally would have tossed it as well. But I found the pattern
of light interesting. He was flying from a wooded area out over a brightly lit
lake. Plus, I was surprised at how sharp it was considering all the diffusion
from the tree branches and leaves.

Paul,
That's a lovely picture and I think Rick's comments explain some of why.
The title turns it from average to special.
Of course, you have to take the picture first to get anything special!

2010-04-25 Thread Steven Desjardins
Now that I can see it properly (not on a cell phone) it does work
quite well. With the religious context given by the title, the
softness of the image becomes a kind of transcendence. That's the
point of using incense in church, after all.

RE: PESO - And the holy spirit....amen

2010-04-25 Thread Bob W
I disagree - I think the title makes it tacky, like the cover of one of
those nasty religious books that people read and which are designed to make
them feel better & do nothing about their shitty lives while separating them
from their hard-earned cash. (although the shot could probably earn a fair
bit of cash from that market)

The picture stands on its own merits and reminds me of some of the very best
Japanese photos that I've seen of cranes, herons and similar birds.
