Re: PESO - Napa Train Station
I like both though I think the first one is more graphic, more complicated. That's great. Just had a chance to visit Boz's place. I suppose the only difference between the K and the A, besides some cosmetics, are the electrical contacts and probably the coating. There is a small element in the foreground of that photo which I wanted to keep. While it's sort of inconsequential, I feel it adds something to the scene. Thanks for looking and for your comments. Both pictures are very good. I would myself have cut off some foreground (again..) of the Station Platform as the interest is all in that building. But as it is now with its square format it has some reminescence of the old-fashioned twin eye pictures. The Barrel and Window could be a tad darker on my screen. That window is surrealistic. It would have been nice if you had a third picture of that window alone to make it a sequence. Hi Bob, It's possible that I've said this before, but that K24/2.8 is one of my favorite lenses - it's certainly used a lot and, like the man on TV says, I "don't leave home without it." At some point I'd like to try an A24/2.8 - gotta check the Boz site and see if the formula is the same. The station has, indeed, fallen into disuse, although some time ago there was a dot.com office in the building. I grabbed an interior shot through a window which you can see here: http://home.earthlink.net/~pdml-pics/thruwindow.html. Funny thing is that, while walking back to the car, I thought about taking a few more shots to show the deteriorated areas, and then decided against doing so. Of course, the posted photos areas that are under roof, and nowhere near as exposed to the weather as the rest of the station. Thanks for looking, and for your kind comments. RE: PESO - Napa Train Station
Nice lens that. The barrel looks strangely flat, as if it's a piece of cardboard or something. The picture are nicely taken - well crafted, as someone said - and convey a sense of emptiness well. However, the station doesn't feel abandoned to me. It looks as though perhaps it's maintained as a film set or something. -- Bob > -Original Message- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On > Behalf Of Shel Belinkoff > Sent: 24 March 2007 14:51 > To: PDML > Subject: PESO - Napa Train Station > > Last Sunday Marnie and I took a drive to Napa, and as you may > know from > some of her posted pics, we came across this old, abandoned > train station. > It's interesting to note - at least for me, anyway - that I > photographed > this very same station on my first ever trip to Napa in 1968. > I'm sure > that has you all excited So, here are a couple of > little snaps of > the station platform. > > http://home.earthlink.net/~pdml-pics/stationplatform.html > http://home.earthlink.net/~pdml-pics/barrelwindow.html > > istDS w/K24/2.8 > > > > Shel > > > > -- > PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List > PDML@pdml.net > http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net > > -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net
