I have no pangs of guilt. Traffic was light, our Prius V  probably used under 2 
gallons of petrol, and there are few places for a good walk without crowds that 
are closer.

Alan,

We took Interstate 95 most of the way, and the river is mostly out of sight. 
Wilmington, Chester, a bunch of suburbs, and the Philly airport are in the way.

That’s true. Over here there’s has been much philosophical discussion about the 
meaning of ‘local’, and the answer seems to differ according to whether you are 
in the country or a city, and whether you are an ordinary person or a Prime 
Minister.

I looked at a map - about a 50km drive along the river? Rather bleak at 
this time of the year. Must be magic in Spring. No safe walks like that
