RE: Pentax-A 300mm f2.8

2003-07-05 Thread Jens Bladt
Oh yes.
These are the current index prices for used equipment according to
FotoMagazin i Germany. The list is on-line and called Fomag liste - prices
in Euros ( a bit more worth than a US Dollar, at the present time).

The prices are based on the actual market. In Denmark the prices used to be
even a little higher (before trading on the internet was too common). Its
funny, though, that the street price of the FA lens is so much lower than
the list price. I guess nobody buys from the official importer anymore. They
actually want 3000 USD for a MS-S with a 24-90 lens!!! I can buy it for
almost 1/3 in the US. But then there's the Danish 25% VAT. When I buy from
the US they charge me sometimes - maybe once out of ten times (Of course
it's illegal not to pay VAT). You can buy a car for what they charge you for
af FA 2.8/300mm!
All the best
Jens

In Europe: 2500 Euro equal to appr. 2875 $ (SMC FA* 2.8/300mm EDIF).

How much are Canon or Nikon equivalence? People actually paid that much for
that lens???

Seems like more and more common. Most want AF in such a lens. I've noticed too that
the prices for manual focus 645 gear is dropping.

version is listed(used index; FomagListe) to the exect same price. So, 1100
is at least half street price!

Sorry - thought you meant the FA version.
JEns

Hi
Photographic equipment is quite expensive in Denmark. Here, the list price
(FA 2.8/300mm) is about 73.000 Dkr, (incl 25% VAT) - which equals about
11.300 $ (USD) (A few years back it was just 6.000$).
I'm sure it's a little cheeper in New York Camera (Germany) or Adorama. But
1100 USD is VERY CHEEP - buy it now, if you can.

Jens

Guys.

The FA lens manual states that the filter holder should be in place as it is
designed to work as part of the optical system.

Kind regards

The FA* super telephotos have filters as standard and part of the optical
system whereas the A* superteles do not; at least not the A* 300/2.8.
