Apparently January is going to be a unique opportunity for viewing lunar
activity.

The full moons on January 1 and January 31 will be the second and third of
three Super Moons in a row. The full moon on the 31st will also be the
second full moon in one month making it a "Blue Moon".

And it will also be a total lunar eclipse, visible from the western United
States to eastern Asia. Viewers in the eastern U.S. can see the beginnings
of it if they get up early in the morning just before the moon sets.

Joe, while technically impeccable, the fact that you were shooting
Super Moon is known only to you. Here are two blog entries from
SirFishALot

point:

http://sirfishalot.wordpress.com/2012/05/06/may-6th-2012-supermoon-

http://sirfishalot.wordpress.com/2012/05/10/may-10th-2012-smith-tower-
moon/

it's true of all the photos of the supermoon. Take at look at this one,
which is representative:
<http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/in-pictures-18032920>

Photographers all over the world cranked out their biggest lenses and took
shots of things silhouetted against the moon, but they could have taken the
same shot any time and the moon would have looked huge - it's the lenses
that are doing it.

Easier to just Photoshop it in afterwards.

It's been cloudy here all day but a hole opened up in just the right place
about 6:30pm. I poked my head out the door for a look then went back to making
dinner :)

The sun was out earlier today, but now it is clouded over here, although
not raining. Don't know how dense the cover is to the east

Hope some/one of you gets a good shot at it.

I don't expect to be able to, but will go up on the roof to watch anyway

I had hopes, but it's pouring rain with lots of thunder & lightening
right now. Forecast doesn't look too good.
