RE: Trying out the new FA 100mm f2.8 macros
Ha! Hardly Steven, that was the first time I'd ever put it on my camera! Definitely loving the bokeh - I really like the effect on #26 and #27 in that gallery with the feather on the headpiece being so nice and sharp and the background being so nicely blurred - it really makes it "pop" which is good because those shots were specificially for a client who makes those headpieces so that she can use them for her own marketing. The lens seems to handle flare and backlighting really well too, I was able to get pretty much the exact effect I was after without too much mucking around. Haven't tried the macros capabilities out yet, I have some small products on their way (little button hair clip thingees) that I need to shoot, so will give it a good work out for those. As an aside - I've been meaning to post this for ages - do you know that since 2001(or was it 2002?) the only "macros" lens I have had is the banged up A 70-210mm that Stan sent to me as a gift when I smashed my Pz-1p over a cliff face and couldn't afford to replace any of my gear?! That thing weighs a TON, is so long and the front thread was all bent so I never could attach a filter etc, but it has given me many years of enjoyment and great shots, so I am forever indebted to Stan for that! Anyways, the FA100mm might be hefty but in comparison to the 70-210mm, it is a baby! Besides that, I haven't been to the gym in years, so lifting that to my eye is something that my triceps certainly need! t.x. -Original Message- From: pdml-boun...@pdml.net [mailto:pdml-boun...@pdml.net] On Behalf Of Steven Desjardins Sent: Tuesday, 27 April 2010 9:50 PM To: Pentax-Discuss Mail List Subject: Re: Trying out the new FA 100mm f2.8 macros You're already doing better work with it than I ever did.
