Re: something dumb I did
It is amazing that the finder is undamaged, as the FB1/FC1 is quite delicate inside with various lenses held in place and plastic tabs that can break. There is a lot that can break inside this finder... Sven Zitat von Peter Jordan [EMAIL PROTECTED]: I managed something almost as dumb this weekend. Setting out for only the second time with my new photo backpack on my pack, I'd gone about 100 yds from the car when I heard a horrible clunk. Looking round, there was my FB-1/FC-1 lying on the ground. To use Cotty's phrase from another post I was shitting bricks, but amazingly it had landed on its side, and none of the glass was marked or damaged in any way. there's just a scratch on the black plastic on the side of the beast. I was much relieved, but now I'm not sure if I trust my backpack. (to be 100% honest I'm not really sure if I trust myself). With my old Billingham bag, the zip was on top, so if it wasn't fully closed, things didn't fall out. With the backpack you absolutely have to do the zips up completely or else it can be very very expensive. When I looked again it was about six inches from smacking the ground, lens-first. Nothing I could do but watch in shock and frustration. The lens is NFG but the camera is fine. Tip - if there's any wind at all, or if the footing is uncertain, try and weight down the rig - usually a rucksack dangled from underneath, or even wrapped around the tripod can prevent disaster. Same thing happened to a £26000 Betacam tv camera in a wind a few years ago - not me I hasten to add. Insurance covers it, but sheesh, the guy's name was mud. It wasn't a write-off, but costly to repair. Cheers, Cotty ___/\__ || (O) | People, Places, Pastiche ||=| www.macads.co.uk/snaps _ Free UK Mac Ads www.macads.co.uk

NFG could mean Non-Functioning Gear but I was referring to the previously mentioned No Effin Good derivation. Not sure what it means in Cory's neck of the woods, but in the upper mid-west it means no f*g good Paul - Original Message - From: Ryan Lee [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, November 17, 2003 10:16 PM Subject: Re: something dumb I did Condolences.. I know the horror. In my conscription days, one of the only things that kept me sane was my beautiful Ovation/Applause slim round-backed semi acoustic guitar. Doing reasonably well, towards the end I managed to get the coveted appointment of running the Officers' lounge, which increased my freedom and made life quite pleasant. About 2 months from the end, one fine day I put my darl aside, leaned against the wall on a high stack of newspapers, to get a couple of officers a couple of beers. I turned around and saw the headstock somewhat at 3 o'clock, leaning against thin air. That instant was then unfrozen in the loudest most horrible sound you could ever imagine coming from a guitar, and the result was the lifeless guitar body on the ground, with it's strings like innards sliming across the floor to the neck half a metre away. I was quite depressed for a couple of weeks, and upon finishing with the stupid army, I went guitar shopping. I've now got a Yamaha AEX 500 (maybe an FA* 43 1.9 compared to the prev one) and I love it. http://www.guitarist.co.uk/gear/gear_page.asp?ID=198 She gets really good treatment and I'll be damned if I break her neck too. A cursory google saw 'new found glory' and despite how it rolls off the tongue with such ease, i quite doubt that's it.. also thought 'now foregone' but i guess we'll wait for a confirmation..
