RE: Re[2]: I'm Back /Portland race shots

2001-06-20 Thread Paris, Leonard

It is a nice, expensive, hard case for carrying camera equipment.
Otherwise, it's a bird whose beak can hold more than his belly can. :-)

Whether it's handy or not, is kind of subjective. If you really need one,
it's definitely handy.

A pelican is a bird, not too handy, unless you're a hungry crocodile.

A Pelican case is a brand name for cases that are built tough to protect
expensive & fragile gear, and have foam inside that can be custom carved to
your equipment. Very handy.

Cheers,
Gerald

I wouldn't rely on the airlines for insurance - I have my cameras
separately insured on an all-risks policy, at replacement value.

Watch out with checked baggage - the airlines only insure cases for a few
hundred dollars (400?), with lower limits on things like jewelry and
cameras. And if you ask them to mark it fragile, they often ask you sign a
damage claim waiver, and if you refuse to sign, they then refuse to take the
item. Too many lawyers.
