IIRC those have Tokina barrel designs with Pentax Optics. Joe I remember (but may be wrong) that you (or was it someone else?) said the DFA100 was a Tokina design and DFA50 was the usual 50mm macro design from Pentax. The Tokina's do NOT have the same coatings as the Pentax versions. Or at least the 16-50 doesn't. There's no other way to explain the difference in flare handling between the DA* and AT-X Pro versions, also the Tokina's have a different colour signature consistent with their other lenses, which is indicative of coating differences. Tokina designed the optics of the 12-24. Pentax designed the optics of the other lenses issued jointly until now. Pentax holds patents on these designs.
