Glazer's and Optechs are within walking distance.

Jim's would require taking the bus into the U District. This is
pretty easy. http://transit.metrokc.gov has a tool which will find
you the best route from one address to another.

Kenmore Camera is about 15 miles away and would require a longer
bus ride.

Ballard Camera has a good selection of used Pentax glass and is
a pretty short bus ride away (about 20 minutes).

The last time I was in Jim's Cameras, over 4 years ago, they had the largest
selection of used Pentax lenses I had ever seen. A very disorganized,
1950's style General Store of photo gear.

Jim's Cameras
1313 Ne 43d
SEATTLE, WA 98105 - 5802
(206) 547-1440
While not carrying new Pentax 35mm equipment, Glazer's just south of Lake
Union may have some used Pentax stuff, and is generally the best place in
Seattle to find a big selection of photo gear in general.

Glazer's Camera
430 8th Ave North
Seattle, WA 98109
(206) 624-1100
Several blocks east of them is Optechs. Maybe has some Pentax stuff, but an
interesting photo shop.

Optechs Camera Supply
433 Fairview N
WA
(206) 343-9900
Maybe the biggest carrier of Pentax new gear in the area that I new of was
Kenmore Camera:

Kenmore Camera
18031 67th Ave Ne
Kenmore, WA 98028
(425) 485-7447
www.dexonline.com will have map link for each listing. Happy Hunting.

Dear all,

As my Washington State trip may be limited to wandering around Seattle, can
anyone who knows the area recommend some good photographic stores to visit?
Given the current advantageous exchange rate of the pound against the dollar
I won't be able to resist the opportunity to part with some cash.
In particular, I'm looking for a decent wide-angle prime, maybe the 20/f2.8
or 24/f2. Or will the new 14/f2.8 be available by mid-June? The S4i is also
very tempting...aargh!
Thanks,

Andy

Thanks for all the advice re places to visit in Washington State.
Unfortunately it looks like I have three colleagues with me, and they may
not want to spend two days driving round the Pacific coast. We'll see how
it
goes. Anyway, it sounds like there are plenty of photogenic sites in
Seattle
 itself environs.

 Cheers

 Andy

   Hi,

I have to visit Seattle on business next month and I intended to
arrive
 a
few days early to get over the jet lag. I had planned to hire a car
and
drive down to Mt. St. Helens or the Olympic penisula for some
landscape
photo opportunities. Unfortunately the departmental secretary booked
me
 onto
a flight that gets in at about 8pm, so I'll have just 2 full days of
 free
   time.

Just don't miss the Pike Place Market...
Taking a ferry across the sound to one of the
  Islands or the
Peninsula , staying over then returning to Seattle
  is a thought , too..
But Seattle itself is quite wonderful... Just
hanging out around Pioneer square and
the waterfront by Pike Place - doing a short
ferry trip - would be enough and more
  leisurely.

Hope you like salmon and dungeness crab -- yum!

Seattle is a seafood lovers paradise..

Andy, if you are sure of your date of arrival, why not call BH or Adorama, tell them
what hotel you will stay at, and ask if you can have an order shipped to your hotel,
to coincide with your arrival? That would be more certain than chancing on a Pentax 20
or 24 in a store. Tell the hotel to expect a parcel for you.

Alternatively, you could contact a store, give them your cc number, ask them to order
and hold the lens for you, and pick it up when you get there.

The DA 16-45 appeared 3-1/2 months ago, and it is again (or still?) backordered on BH
and Adorama. Pentax seems to be having trouble producing enough of these lenses to
meet demand. So I wouldn't count on finding a DA 14 so early, unless it is very
expensive.

Have a nice trip.

Joe
