Ted, I find this strangely attractive, in the same way I find Lady Gaga attractive. There is an almost morbid fascination with what I am seeing, and underneath all of the decorative stuff there is really something attractive there, but I wouldn't want to take it home to meet my mother. Stan that is how I normally feel about HDRs. I was just trying to get it into the Doug and Mark show and see something of mine projected. I have gone through my shots from GFM and found several that I should have worked on and submitted instead of the 3 I chose. It always seems that way for me. I have a very hard time editing under the trees. Thanks to you and Dave for looking. Ted The eye of the viewer becomes the eye of the Photographer. Re: Shot from GFM this year
Hi Ted*, First of all, I wish all the best to your Grandson and hopefully all this mystery sickness will be nothing more than a fading memory soon. The shot is good, it's well composed I like it. The moment, the framing and the feeling of the picture is just excellent. But the post process is just not good for me. I feel the picture way too oversaturated and you have a lot of 'HDR-Glow'. There are many HDR softwares around, which can create nice Tone Mapped pictures from Expo-Bracketed shots, but I haven't found any that would do the job properly. My method for HDR photos is a mix of using Photomatix / Lightroom / Photoshop and the workflow based on the workflow of Joel Grimes (who is famous for his HDR backgrounded portraits) with adding my own twists. But if you would share the original brackets (or was it in-camera HDR?) I would love to give it a try to post-process it. Cheers, .t *Ps.: After Room 404 in the movie, Four Rooms I don't dare to call anyone Theodore :) - Original Message - From: Theodore Beilby tbei...@sbcglobal.net To: PDML@pdml.net Sent: Wednesday, June 08, 2011 4:39 PM Subject: Shot from GFM this year To those interested, my Grandson is out of the hospital and doing well, however, it is still a mystery as to what is affecting him. Re: Shot from GFM this year
Peter as I stated earlier, I submitted this to the contest for fun The shot was done in camera in my K 7 on HDR2 setting so there is not a set of exposures. I did work with it a little in Lightroom but did not increase the saturation. I boosted the black level and also vibrance a little. I also boosted recovery and clarity sliders. Little bit of graduated on the foreground and sky and that was mostly it. I did have misgivings about the ghosting on the ridge so I did try to lighten the sky to reduce that some. Re: Shot from GFM this year
Ted, Wish this picture would be exposure bracketed ;) That was my idea as well, being in-camera HDR, and I still believe it would make a marvellous picture with a detailed post process. That's why I never really let the camera do anything with my shots :) It's a kind of 'I am pressing the button and you just give me whatever comes out of your sensor, m'kay?' relationship between me and the camera :) All the best, .t - Original Message - From: Theodore Beilby tbei...@sbcglobal.net To: PDML@pdml.net Sent: Wednesday, June 08, 2011 10:34 PM Subject: Re: Shot from GFM this year Peter as I stated earlier, I submitted this to the contest for fun The shot was done in camera in my K 7 on HDR2 setting so there is not a set of exposures. From: Theodore Beilby Yes, Bob, that was my goal. Don't know why it didn't make the list of shame. Dan, Paul, Jack, thanks for the look and comments. Because you shot it with the K7's in-camera HDR. They specifically mentioned during the warm-up show that HDR was right out *EXCEPT* if you could do HDR in the camera.
