Alexandre: I owned one in Nikon fit. It was acceptable at 28mm but soft at 105mm. I sold it. In general the edge definition was always below centre. Conrad F. I have the 28-135 and like it quite a bit (much more than I expected, actually). I use it mostly for shooting stuff for my running web page because it's a good wide range and reasonably small and light. Sharper than my old Tamron 28-200 over 100mm. Very solid-feeling construction for the price range. Very useful "macro" switch gets you to half life-size reporduction. The biggest drawback is pincushion distortion at longer focal lengths. How much of an issue this is for you will depend on what kind of photography you do. It's rarely a problem for me. If you do a lot of architectural photos forget it. - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List. To unsubscribe, go to http://www.pdml.net and follow the directions. Stay with the lens you already have or be prepared to spend significant money for f/2.8 semipro zooms. The cheaper Sigma 4-5.6 is said to be much better. Alternatively wait for the 24-90, it might be a very interesting lens and not too expensive. There's also a Sigma 28-135 but I don't know anything about it. You can have a look at: http://space.tin.it/arte/flamin/28-105.html where I tried pulling together some info on various lenses on this range but never got around to complete the work. It might help you some, anyway. Ciao, Flavio - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List. To unsubscribe, go to http://www.pdml.net and follow the directions. Re: Sigma 28-105 F2.8-4
I have a friend who does photography for hire (he doesn't like photography, he just wants to make money doing it -- I know, that's kinda wierd) who bought one of those zooms, and he's had nothing but problems with it. He may have gotten a really bad sample, but it has had numerous repairs and has always been SERIOUSLY unsharp at the 105 end. He still uses it, though, because he's too cheap to buy a new lens. Ditto for his C*&^$ cameras that break all the time. - Original Message - From: "Aaron Reynolds" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Friday, January 26, 2001 7:41 AM Subject: Re: Sigma 28-105 F2.8-4 > > > "Alexandre A. A few of us weighed in with comments on this lens a couple of weeks ago, I think. Let me know if you can't find it and I'll see if I can find my post at my end (but be warned, I'm not very organized). The short version is that the contrast is poor and sharpness is seriously lacking, especially at the 28 and 105 ends. On a 4x6 print, I was unimpressed with it. If you have the FA 28-70, you'll be really disappointed by this lens. On the other hand, it is pretty cheap for how fast it is, and if you need the speed and are on a tight budget, it would do okay. However, I'd stick with the FA 28-70. Aaron - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List. To unsubscribe, go to http://www.pdml.net and follow the directions. Sigma 28-105 F2.8-4
Hello all, what do you think about the Sigma 28-105 F2.8-4 I am thinking to buy this lens to replace my pentax FA 28-70 F4. In the 28-70 range, is the sigma as good as/better/worse than pentax? Thanks for any advice, Alex -- --- Alexandre A. P.
