Hmm. My Dell Precision M50 is showing signs of decrepitude, and that
could be a contender (except that it's probably made in China, and I
don't have any money).

But a 17 -screen laptop demands a lot of the lap.

Not to mention the back that has to carry the thing around.

I hate the thought of having to drag around the PC equivalent of a
ghettoblaster...

Now the Lenovo X300, on the other hand... :-)

Well if you mean those big spongy things I couldn't agree more. I have
a thin, flexible, metal-reinforced mat which doubles as screen
protection between the screen and the keyboard when I fold the screen
down. Without anything in between, I tend to get greasy marks on the
screen from the most used keys. :-(

You should have realized by now that portable in photographic parlance
means that it has a handle (wheels optional).  If it has wheels but no
handle it is moveable.  Weight has never been a consideration to these
definitions.

Considering who its aimed at it's very portable compared to trying to
lug around a full graphics/CAD workstation.

Try rendering a complex 3D model for a client on a pi55 weak, but
highly portable laptop, and this thing sounds great.

 better laptops than usual consumer ones.
