We've got snow!

2018-12-09 Thread John
Or more likely some kind of mix of sleet & snow that's white and a couple of
inches deep. It's wet & heavy. I've already heard idiots out playing with their
4WD vehicles this morning so I expect the power to go out soon.

It was so quiet around 5 am that it woke me up, so I do have a photo or two, but
I don't know if the power will stay on long enough for me to process them and
get them up on flickr.

All meters assume that the scene is grey, including the snow. When shooting a
scene where snow dominates, you generally have to compensate for exposure in
the plus direction. Shoot, check your histogram, adjust exposure and reshoot.

Just wanted to check in and let y'all know I'm doing Ok. Safe, snug & warm
inside.

I haven't been outside to photograph the "snow". It was already looking ragged
when I peeked outside my front door yesterday mid-morning, and I didn't see any
need to get out in it.

Looking good, John!

We have a snow mower that I take out each time we get about that much.
Today our neighbour showed up while I was working it. -In a tractor with
a mounted thrower. He did in three minutes what I would have spent an
hour and a half doing.

Spirit of Christmas. Wonderful time of the year! :-)
