I don't know what I would use it for except birding. Saw a pair of nesting bald eagles once and could not get closer due to them being private property. I took some pics using a 300 2.8, but the 600 would have been much better in this situation. When I visited it, the linked-to page had several references to the 645 version of the lens ('P' in the name, and an extra handle opposite the foot), but there were also two A* K-mount versions. It's probably not that much heavier than the A* 300/2.8. That baby is from the 645 lineup. Having once played with it on the 645D, my brief and shallow impression is that fringing is not an issue on the crop format 645D, and a total non-starter when coupled to a K-mount camera.
