I got surprisingly nice results with the lenses on 110 film. They're good optics. Aperture and shutter are part of the same mechanism in the camera body. I expect a good machinist could make an adapter that had an aperture built in, but then it might change the register distance too much. Guys, don't blame me, you gave me this idea... If they can do it with some junky Panasonic, I can do it with Pentax. Adapter? Phew, it's for weenies :) We ALL know, DA40 Limited lenscap / shade fits K-bayonet (somehow) from its wider end and Auto110 bayonet (a bit better) from the other. What holds it all together? Fingers! Yes, as always, there are some shortcomings. Da Vincis helicopter didn't fly a bit, but everyone's thinking oldster had an ingenious idea. Focus... err... you can move the camera. No aperture... err... it's not some C, it's good right from wide open. It's... whatever, it works.:) The Image: http://nagi.ee/photos/haramount/14496591/in-set/256079/ The Monster (fingers not included): http://nagi.ee/photos/haramount/14496589/in-set/256079/ BR, Margus Godfrey DiGiorgi wrote: Thought some folks would get a kick out of this ... http://www.flickr.com/groups/1084...@n23/discuss/72157623543813407/ Godfrey -- a photo blog: http://godfreydigiorgi.posterous.com -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.

I like seeing how many people are buying these micro-4/3 cameras to adapt old/other lenses to them. I wonder if they would have sold as well if it weren't for all the tinkerers. I'm currently shooting an Oly E-PL1 for a review, and have been using the 77 Ltd on it for portraits. Great pictures, which I expected, but the surprise was how easy it is to manually focus using the LCD screen; much easier than on the K10D through the viewfinder. --M. -- http://EnticingTheLight.com A Quest for Photographic Enlightenment -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.

Great pictures, which I expected, but the surprise was how easy it is to manually focus using the LCD screen; much easier than on the K10D through the viewfinder. Manual focus with the big, bright EVF of the G1/GH1 and E-P2 models is even easier. I've used a nice brace of alternative lenses on the G1, from Nikkor 20mm to Nikkor 180mm with telextender. What works most successfully for me when it comes to adapted lenses are lenses in the 35 to 105 mm range. Short focal lengths, up to 25mm, I find the FourThirds and Micro-FourThirds lenses work best. My present G1 working kit includes a Cosmicar 12.5mm f/1.4 TV lens, a Konica 40mm f/1.8, an Olympus Pen F 70mm f/2 and a Pentax SMC Takumar 135mm f/3.5. A brief gallery of the G1 with a hodgepodge of various lenses is available here: http://www.gdgphoto.com/G1_adapted_lenses.html The adaptability and versatility of these bodies is delightful to those of us who appreciate the wide range of excellent lenses that can be used, but in fact the vast vast majority of users never need or want to work with anything but Micro-FourThirds lenses. Between Panasonic and Olympus, there are now lenses either shipping or announced for shipping soon from ultra-wideangle to hefty telephotos, all of which are darn good quality. It's nice to see these Pentax 110 lenses being used and performing well regardless! :-) -- Godfrey godfreydigiorgi.posterous.com -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
