istD w/ SMC-M lens-wireless 360 flash?
Ok, I picked up the 360 flash today. I think I have it figured out with SMC-A lenses. However, with an SMC-M lens, it won't fire the 360 in wireless mode. Is this normal? If you look at the top display on the camera you will see that when a lens is moved off of the A position wireless flash mode cannot be selected, same in M mode. Not sure why or how but wireless mode must be used with A lenses, perhaps a future firmware upgrade will allow this, but I rather doubt it. Except the fac that you can cheat wit ha bit of modding as Michel describes pretty well on his website. Sh** it seems it doesn't work anymore with *ist, *ist-D and *ist-DS. Yes, for wireless TTL flash you need a lens with electrical contacts and in case of istD also with "A" on aperture ring. However you can use AF360 with -M lenses as a wireless flash using its own automatic - it's not as precise as TTL, but should work quite good with any lens (also M42). -- Balance is the ultimate good...
