Unfortunately true, which is why I lately acquired a 280T, and am shopping
for a wide angle adapter.Since I have a 330ftz, I have usually tried to
arrange
things so the superprogram with the 24-50 handled available light work, and
ran the ring light, while the ZX-5 flashed with the 330FTZ, but alas I am trapped
at 28mm.

Which of course is why I have a 330Ftz, 'cause it doesn't.It's been around 10
years and could use a face lift. The 400 is discontinued and the 500 needs a second
mortgage

Yes, but the F flashes will not work with the SuperProgram.

You might be surprised to know that the AF 500 FTZ zooms from 24mm to 85mm
already. I have used this feature many times with my FA *24mm lens. Gotta
love it!

The AF500ftz and AF400FTZ both start at 24. The 500 zooms outn to 85,
the 400 to 105.

Re: wide - Was OT: (Somewhat)

2001-01-22 Thread Robert P. VanNatta

I agree on the wides. The 'default' lense on my super program is a 24-50 SMC-A.
'cause I really like it. What is missing though are flash units wide enough to
suit
me. Most of the flash units don't go wider than 28 without some help which is
probably why most of the 'consumer' zooms start at 28 as well.

I noticed that a new flash unit was announced at photokina along with the MZ-S
along with the 24-90 zoom.I'm really hoping the driving reason for a 'new
flash'
is one that goes wider How about a power zoom flash that zoomed the
range of 24-90? Maybe some flash powder in a pan and I can light up for my
15mm WA as well.If you like the 20mm WA you would really like the 15mm WA.

The trend has been wider and wider for 30 years. It was 30 years ago
that a WA was 35mm -- so I bought a 28. Then really 28 became the standard
WA --- and I want a 24. Now I think we are on the brink of recognizing
that the 24 is a 'standard' WA.

We have the 24 F2 prime which few owners seem willing to part with, and we
see the new zoom coming out starting at 24 which is really a 'normal zoom'
and not a speciality WA zoom, as it zooms through 50mm and beyond.
The missing link is a 24-?? FTZ flash unit--with perhaps eventually all the FTZ
flash units upgraded to start at 24mm.

This would give us an excuse to dump all of our 28-to whatever zooms on ebay
and buy new.
