It's a conspiracy. There are dozens of computer operators sitting around waiting for a
search request to come down the pipe. When it does, they choose which of the messages
shall be returned with full text and which only get the headline treatment. What's
really impressive is that this is all done in a matter of tenths of seconds. These are
highly skilled conspirators, able to discern which search terms are more important to
you, based entirely on the way you enter them. The more important terms, as you have
no doubt noticed, are those that only return titles.

Okay, back here on Earth, here's what's really happening: Mail-Archive.com is working
on their software. It is hoped that the current work will clear up some problems with
the service, and they have made some other decisions that should make things a bit
more efficient.

Personally, I prefer the conspiracy theory, as it's so much more dramatic.

FWIW, the archives are not prepared by the good folk at www.pdml.net

The www.pdml.net list made a huge effort this weekend to catch up (skipping
about 3 days, which were never presented online). Another interesting
feature is that now only the title of submisions are presented, texts are
only occassionally availlable. On what basis is the decission made, which
texts are worth presenting in full and which not?
