There seem to be at least two salient reasons that the Right hates Clinton so much. They have tried to force him into the mold of the ultimate DP'er, dixiecrat cum machine politician. Their image of him is pure archetype(s). While I obviously have lots of problems with Willie's politics, he is not a corrupt machine boss as they feverishly dream. Someone with Clinton's resume could have gotten rich by going to Wall Street or Washington rather than back to Arkansas. The second salient reason is that Clinton is the last obstacle to the culmination of the Reagan revolution. And to add insult to injury, he achieved that largely through appropriate the Right's rhetoric. In short, the Right feel cheated on a historic scale. -Paul Meyer
