I strongly concur. Lunch onsite is a nice for a short break that
doesn't cut into hacking time too much. What I liked in Birmingham
was that lunch was in the building, but in a separate room and for an
hour, we all got to leave, have our stuff locked safely away and
eat/chat with our fellows, but it was *only* an hour break. Lunch in
the room is OK, too, but probably means less social interaction during
lunch. That's still better than a long interruption for lunch.

QA hackathon 2012: call to attention

2012-01-05 Thread Philippe Bruhat (BooK)
Hi,

The Perl QA hackathon 2012 is taking place from Friday, **March 30th**
to Sunday, **April 1st** 2012 in Paris, France. Attendance is gratis.
We would like to know if you are interested in coming and participating.
You can also propose other people who should be invited. As with the
hackathons in the past years, we aim to fund the travel and accommodation
costs for those who cannot get funding otherwise.

We would like to hear about your topics and ideas. Please find further
information at the hackathon website (http://2012.qa-hackathon.org/)
and wiki (http://2012.qa-hackathon.org/qa2012/wiki).

[QA2012] IRC Meeting 2011-01-05

2012-01-05 Thread Philippe Bruhat (BooK)
Hi,

Here's a quick summary of what was said on irc during this week's status
meeting for the Perl QA Hackathon 2012 (based on the irc logs).

Progress:
- Diabolocom and $foo transfered the money! Thanks to them!
- elbeho hasn't sent "thank" emails yet, but will soon
- mdk provided contact email for DuckDuckGo. elbeho contacted them
and is waiting for a reply. Will recontact early next week if needed.
- elbeho asked for a quote from another hotel next to the venue
(Hotel Ibis Paris-La Villette). They asked for more information, which
  has been sent. Now waiting.
- Paypal account opening for "Les Mongueurs de Perl" still in progress.
  (i.e. not done yet)
- Xavier Caron (French monger) will come. He asked his company for
sponsorship (his trip, and the hackathon itself). No answer yet.
- the web site received some attention from dolmen and BooK
- daxim reminded us to send a real, global invitation, based on the
one he sent last yet. BooK will do it, and hopes the interwebs duplicate
  the information everywhere
- elbeho asked for advice regarding lunches (a break to eat outside
vs. snacks in the dev room)
- elbeho planned to book restaurants for the evenings
- daxim's advice: avoid to leave the building even if it's not a decent
  lunch meal. proper dinner compensates

Next meeting:
irc://irc.perl.org/perl-qa
Thursday January 12th, 13:00 CET (Europe/Paris).

And by that I meant the people in the last section: "Not registered,
but ought to be invited". Sorry about the confusion.
