Start PPM, and to add the repository type:
'set repository
http://www.ActiveState.com/PPMPackages/5.6'
Then type 'set save' to save the added repository for later PPM sessions.
For the part, just call it whatever you want.

PPM: package repository has changed?

2001-04-16 Thread Brian McDonald

Out of curiosity I decided to revisit the PPM problem I had last week. I found,
by looking in the PPM configuration file (ppm.xml) for my distribution
(5.6.0.613), that my version of PPM points at what appears to be an old package
repository:

http://www.activestate.com/packages/

I've searched the PPM FAQ on ASPN to find out what I had to do to bring my rev
of PPM up-to-date, but there is no FAQ entry on the subject.

Then I tried manually editing ppm.xml with the address of the new repository...
namely,

http://www.activestate.com/ppmpackages/5.6/

but that's not working either, as there are appear to be other URLs that are
also broken.

What does a guy have to do to get PPM to work again? And why in the world would
PPM particulars be changed without communicating the fix in some way?

TIA,

Brian
