YALI (yet another logo idea)
I was thinking that a logo doesn't really need to incorporate a symbol (e.g. camel, onion etc.), and that one of the more important aspects of a logo is the typography. Rather than ramble on with ideas, I decided to make something to look at: http://www.rakudo.org/some-rakudo-logo-ideas Also, I really think the services of a professional designer are needed. Is there any possibility of some funds being allocated to hire one? (Who did the Parrot logo?)

This was a joke, wasn't it? RE: A Logo design for Rakudo Perl 6
I was just reading over some of the previous logo discussion and came up with an idea for combining logos - i.e. Rakudo + Parrot. We could have a speech bubble coming from the Parrot's beak with the Rakudo logo (gimel?) inside. Just a simple idea, but I thought it would provide a good way to tie in the parrot logo with various languages implemented on Parrot. Sits nicely with the "Speaks you language" tag line. Re: Rakudo Perl development release #14 ("Vienna")
Thanks for the Vienna release. All of a sudden Perl 6 feels a lot more accessible. After having failed attempts trying to build Pugs and earlier Rakudo versions (I didn't try too hard), this worked a treat. Downloaded tarball and built on my openSUSE 11.0 desktop, all in only a couple of minutes. The instructions were clear and simple. Great, now I'm ready to start playing with Perl 6! Are there plans to set up a new website for Rakudo now it's on its own? If so, I would be prepared to offer some Drupal expertise - if it's wanted. I saw mention of a logo before, is there any news on that? Cheers, Ross. -- Ross Kendall web developer & consultant http://rosskendall.com
