Those (\t & \n) aren't "escape characters", (though the \ is an
escape, so you might classify t & n a "escaped").

I think the term you're looking for is "whitespace" characters.
Although this https://perldoc.perl.org/perlglossary.html#whitespace is
from the Perl 5 docs, it should still work.
