If you could provide a/some better picture(s) it would help. If the infestation is now, then I suggest the VeLOxy method as Ercole advised. Otherwise go for the IPPM suggested by Tom Parker, which is better and for longer term. And remember my motto: Only dead bugs should have access to the collection. I think it is the cephalothorax of a Dysderid. These spiders eat sow bugs and their relatives so are an indicator of a moisture and/or access problem nearby. They have big fangs and are are often a bright chestnut red when alive and dry to a more brown color. They have a soft, smooth abdomen that is a fleshy, pale tan and is easily damaged or lost. --Steve From: pestlist-ow...@museumpests.net [mailto:pestlist-ow...@museumpests.net] On Behalf Of tais lima Sent: Saturday, December 12, 2009 9:35 AM To: pestlist@museumpests.net Subject: [pestlist] can anyone help I took some samples from a wooden object and found this. Re: [pestlist] can anyone help
Is there frass ( powder or grains) , holes, soft spots or rot in any of the wooden objects? Any prior infestation? Have you ever found wings in the general area? Do you have sticky traps to monitor any activity? It is easier to associate damage to a particular insect than to identify an insect by parts. I would continue to monitor the objects on a frequent basses until a determination is made. Bill In a message dated 12/12/2009 3:10:07 P.M.
