When executing following procedure:

CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION processRecords()
  RETURNS int8 AS
$BODY$
declare
begin

   commit ;

return 0;
end;
$BODY$
  LANGUAGE 'plpgsql' VOLATILE;
