I am trying to write a sigle command to update the max number from detail.
Something like:
update group set max_msgid=max(c.msgid)
from group g, content c
where g.id=c.g_id
So group is master, content is detail. I want group to stroe 
max(msgid) from content.

Syntax help plz?

[GENERAL] pre-sroted table (w/ index)

In TransacSQL, we used to have the tabled sorted by marking an index for 
example by create_date.

This way we did not need to do an order by or at least it was faster.
Is there a way to force the table to be physicaly stroed sorted by a 
certain index?

It be at least dual opteron 64 w 4 gigs of ram runing fedora with a huge 
raid striped drives as single volume.
A similar system and types of querries would be this:

Well, it depends upon lot of factors. There are few questions to be asked 
here..
- What is your hardware and OS configuration?
- What type of data you are dealing with? Mostly static or frequently updated?
- What type of query you are doing. Aggregates or table scan or selective 
retreival etc.

Unfortunately there is no one good answer. If you could provide details, it 
would help a lot..
